Scope and Content
In these letters, Sr. Marie-Aurelie asks for Merton's assistance in evaluating what reforms should be made to her order's contemplative and monastic life. She and her community were reviewing the constitution of the order, and wondered what changes should be made to religious formation and to the daily horarium of work and prayer.
Biography
Sr. Marie-Aurelie is writing from the Monastery of the Precious Blood in Hamilton, Ontario. According to Sr. Marie-Aurelie's first letter, the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood were the first contemplative order in Canada, founded in 1861 in St. Hyacinth, Quebec.
