Scope and Content

Cecilia Pecchioli corresponded briefly with Thomas Merton. She was from Florence, Italy. Merton replies twice to her letters. After these responses, she was sent a form letter with the printed signature of "The Abbey of Gethsemani" to inform her that Trappists rarely receive permission to write, but that Merton encouraged her to write him. Pecchioli was inspired to write Merton concerning the lay apostolate after having read The Seven Storey Mountain.
