Scope and Content

This file contains two fundraising letters from the spring of 1951. One is from the "Friends of Gethsemani" to solicit donations seemingly from those who went to the monastery on retreat and raising funds for a new guesthouse. The other letter, signed by Merton (some language that seems by Merton and other language that could be written by someone else), mentions general monetary needs of the monastery with the many post-war Trappist vocations and reference made to the Korean War underway at the time the letter was sent.

Biography

Margaret Dursita was from Farrell, Pennsylvania.
