Correspondence Type Descriptions

	email — Printout of a message sent via e-mail, which may be a message related to earlier Merton documents.
	HACS — Holograph (handwritten) signed greeting card with annotations. The original message on card was handwritten and either the message author or another has made further annotations.
	HALS — Holograph (handwritten) signed letter with annotations. The orignal message on letter was handwritten and either the message author or another has made further annotations.
	HALS[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed letter with annotations.
	HANS — Holograph (handwritten) signed note (intramural message or very brief mailed message) with annotations.
	HC — Holograph (handwritten) greeting card (not signed).
	HCS — Holograph (handwritten) signed greeting card.
	HCS[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed greeting card.
	HL — Holograph (handwritten) letter (not signed).
	HL[d] — Draft copy of a holograph (handwritten) letter (not signed).
	HLS — Holograph (handwritten) signed letter.
	HLS[c] — Carbon copy of holograph (handwritten) signed letter.
	HLS[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed letter.
	HN — Holograph (handwritten) note (not signed). Note used for very brief mailed correspondence or intramural message.
	HN[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) note (not signed). Note used for very brief mailed correspondence or intramural message.
	HNS — Holograph (handwritten) signed note. Note used for very brief mailed correspondence or intramural message.
	HNS[d] — Draft copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed note. Note used for very brief mailed correspondence or intramural message.
	HNS[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed note. Note used for very brief mailed correspondence or intramural message.
	HPC — Holograph (handwritten) postcard (not signed).
	HPCS — Holograph (handwritten) signed postcard.
	HPCS[x] — Xerox copy of a holograph (handwritten) signed postcard.
	other — Includes a non-correspondence item enclosed with correspondence or such an item filed with correspondence.
	other[c] — Carbon copy of a miscellaneous item.
	other[d] — Draft copy of a miscellaneous item.
	other[x] — Xerox copy of a miscellaneous item.
	TACS — Typed signed greeting card with holograph annotations.
	TACS[x] — Xerox copy of a typed signed greeting card with holograph annotations.
	TAL — Typed letter (not siged) with holograph (handwritten) annotations.
	TAL[c] — Carbon copy of a typed letter (not siged) with holograph annotations.
	TAL[d] — Draft copy of a typed letter (not siged) with holograph annotations.
	TAL[x] — Xerox copy of a typed letter (not siged) with holograph annotations.
	TALS — Typed signed letter with holograph (handwritten) annotations.
	TALS[c] — Carbon copy of a typed signed letter with holograph annotations.
	TALS[d] — Draft copy of a typed signed letter with holograph annotations.

	telegram — Message generated from communication transmitted through telegraphy.
	telegram[x] — Xerox of message generated from communication transmitted through telegraphy.
	TL — Typed letter (not signed).
	TL[c] — Carbon copy of a typed letter (not signed).
	TL[d] — Draft copy of a typed letter (not signed).
	TL[x] — Xerox copy of a typed letter (not signed).
	TLS — Typed signed letter.
	TLS[c] — Carbon copy of a typed signed letter.

	transcript — Transcript copy of a letter, i.e., re-typed or re-written after orignal and often by another person. Often typed version of a holograph orignal.
