optional conference excursion to
"the cottage"

On Thursday morning a limited number of places are available for an excursion by bus to "The Cottage" where Thomas Merton and Robert Lax, along with other friends, spent the summer of 1939 and part of the summer of 1940 before Merton moved into a dorm room in Butler Gym on the Bonaventure University campus.

Buses will leave campus at approximately 10.00 am for the ride up to "The Cottage" which is situated in the hills overlooking Olean. Participants will have the opportunity to explore "The Cottage" and to take part in a short presentation/discussion about the time Merton and Lax spent at "The Cottage."

There is a charge of $25 for this excursion. Please complete and return the registration form for this excursion with your conference registration if you wish to take part.
