The Merton Annual - Call for Submissions

The Editors of The Merton Annual

invite submissions

to a special volume

commemorating the fiftieth anniversary

of the death of Thomas Merton

While all submissions will be considered for publication, priority will be given to essays that focus on some aspect of the final year of Merton’s life, including his Asian journey and his death; his preceding trips to the west coast, the southwest and Alaska; his talks in Calcutta, Thailand, Alaska and elsewhere, during his journeys as well as at Gethsemani; his responses to the political and social crises of what he referred to as “a beast of a year,” as recorded in his journal, correspondence and elsewhere; his writings, in prose or verse, composed and/or published during 1968; and other relevant topics.

Completed essays should be sent by September 1, 2018 to: [email protected]
