QuotationSunday was Septuagesima. I am giving talks on Faulkner still ("Old Man") and rereading the whole of Wild Palms. Also writing my piece for a Panichas book (Mansions of the Spirit) of which I have a Xerox here. Some fine things in it. This morning I finished the [Georges] Florovsky essay. Which explains perhaps why I never could get into Tolstoy. But it also makes me see that the negative and inconclusive radicalism of Tolstoy could be a danger for me too. Except that I am very different from him.
