QuotationYesterday (Sunday) was out in the woods - reading [Irenee] Hausherr's Penthos [Rome, 1944]. A nice sunny, quiet afternoon. I find I can at last relax my desperate grip on the image of M. and of her love. Obviously I still love her, but there is no point in insisting that we are still "in love," though maybe we still are, up to a point.
