Merton Annual - Submission Guidelines

 

Submissions should be prepared and handled according to the following guidelines:


1. Documents should be created using Microsoft Word software.
2. Full documentation for all references should be included.
3. References to Thomas Merton texts or sources should be to a specific text and printing, or library collection.
4. Footnotes rather than endnotes should be used and prepared according to this basic model for book references:
Thomas Merton, A Man in the Divided Sea (New York: New Directions, 1946) 211-213.

5. TIMES NEW ROMAN FONT should be used, 12 point for text, and 10 point for footnotes.
6. In-text parenthetical citations should be reserved for subsequent references to sources already footnoted .
7. All book titles should be italicized only, not underscored or fully capitalized.
8. Ibid and op cit should be avoided.
9. All quotations from secondary sources should be double-checked for accuracy.
10. Electronic submissions by e-mail should be sent to the Gmail addresses given below.
11. Articles accepted for inclusion will be edited and returned to the author for revisions.  
12. The final revised copy should be submitted electronically.
13. Upon acceptance of a submission, the author will be asked to write a “contributor’s note,” containing approximately 50 to 60 words focused on his or her professional position and recent accomplishments
