Quotation | Thanks for Flannery O'Connor's new book [Everything That Rises Must Converge], which, of course, I have read immediately. It has all of her usual power, sometimes more. Some of the stories have a really brutal impact, and with reason. I think that she has an almost prophetic insight into what ails everybody. It is instructive to read her and see her violent, misled, obsessed people in action, and to compare our national folly in Vietnam, for example. |
