Murphy asks Merton to present at one on their conferences on "the connection between theology and religious affirmation on the one hand and our work with experimental psychology and 'affective education' on the other." Merton accepts if it can work in with his priorly scheduled trip to speak with the Trappistine nuns at Redwoods Monastery. He later must cancel these plans.
Michael Murphy writes from the Esalen Institute, located in San Francisco and Big Sur, California.
