Clarence W. Schultz was concerned about racism in his community of rural southern Indiana. He asks if Merton will write an article he could deliver to a Kiwanis Club meeting or allow him to use some of his existing material. He relates incidents of racism experienced by an African-American visiting priest. Merton responds with some of his existing articles and some advice in coping with issues of racism.
Clarence W. Schultz worked at the News Publishing Company of Tell City, Indiana.
