Madeleine Viénot sends photographs of Merton's father, of his mother, and of him (likely as an infant). The photographs may have been incorporated into the collection (the source of Thomas Merton's infant pictures), but are not extant among the correspondence. Merton's mother, Ruth Jenkins Merton, had lived with Viénot's family in France while learning French. Viénot describes the personality of Ruth Merton.
Madeleine Viénot writes from Paris, France.
