Yesterday in my scribbled note to John Hunt I acted as if I thought both propositions were open: |

proposition for article for Love issue - "Love and need: Is love a package or a message?" - people put a market value on love-seeking instead of "the discovery of the true self in the love of the other" / criticism about monks writing on love - Merton thinks only those who have fallen in love should be able to become monks
