Quotation | I have just finished reading the [Frithjof] Schuon book on Islam, in French. It strikes me as one of his best books. Its interest for me was a little uneven, and I wonder if he is not interpolating here and there a lot of his own gnostic ideas. It is so terribly difficult to do a really good job of combining the different traditions among themselves. I know the school of Schuon and [Rene] Guenon well, and read them with interest, but at times I do get the feeling that they are vanishing into the mist. Then they come clear again. I think they deserve all credit for their efforts to bring East and West together. I must say I enjoyed this book on Islam, especially some parts of the chapter on the Prophet and on the Way "¦ |
