Merton's friend Fr. Arthur MacDonald Allchin had suggested to Lars Thunberg that he send a signed copy of his book on St. Maximus the Confessor to Merton.
Professor Lars Thunberg wrote a book entitled, Microcosm and Mediator: The Theological Anthropology of Maximus the Confessor.
